Presented by the all-volunteer nonprofit Malama Hawaii Nei, the event funds college scholarships for local area students and provides assistance for community projects.
Malama Hawaii Nei invites craft and food vendors to contact Louise “Sweetie” Maikui at 920-8111 for applications to participate at its 7th Annual Laupahoehoe Music Festival on Saturday, Feb. 18. Completed applications must be submitted by Thursday, Jan. 19.
The popular event will be staged from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Laupahoehoe Point Beach Park. Located on the Hamakua Coast, the seaside park is off of Highway 19, past the 27-mile marker. The park is situated approximately 1.2 miles below the highway.
Presale tickets for festival-goers will be $10, with admission at the gate $15.
Tickets will go on sale Jan. 15 at the following locations: the ’50s Highway Cafe and Sakado Store in Laupahoehoe; the Taro Patch in Honokaa (www.taropatchgifts.com); Mr. Ed’s Bakery in Honomu; the Music Exchange in Waimea, Kona and Hilo, and at Hilo Guitars & Ukuleles (www.hiloguitars.com).
Coordinators promise another exceptional lineup of Hawaiian entertainers, with “Grammy-recognized rising stars, veteran masters and top local bands coming together for a day of nonstop music and hula, island style.” The lineup will be announced soon on the festival website, http://laupahoehoemusicfestival.com.
